Resource Person: Adolfo Jesus R. Gopez
Dr. Adolfo Jesus R. Gopez began his career in 1978 as instructor of Metallurgy and Engineering Sciences at the College of Engineering, University of the Philippines (UP) in Diliman, where he obtained his B.S. Metallurgical Engineering, magna cum laude.With a Diplome d’Etudes Approfondies – Materials Science (1981) and a Diplome de Docteur – Ingenieur – Materials Science, Mention Tres Honorable (1983) from Institut National Polytechnique de Lorrainein France, he went on to become Assistant Professor and College Secretary of the College of Engineering,UP-Diliman. Aside from his metallurgical engineering expertise, Dr. Gopez has advanced his administrative skills by conducting planning, technical and management training for various companies. Prior to assuming the Presidency of FEATI University, he handled executive functions in several science and technology offices like the PHINMA Training Center, the Philippine Council for Industry and Energy Research and Development, Metals Industry Research and Development Center, Department of Science and Technology, among others. He also served the Professional Regulation Commission as Chairman of the Board of Metallurgical Engineering. He is also a registered ASEAN Engineer.
Dr. Gopez has authored/co-authored several research publications and textbooks and has published articles in reputable journals on various topics ranging from the testing of polycarbonate, to metals failure analysis, metalforming, metal casting, and, industry and energy research. His valuable work experience and being a multi-faceted individual has made him among the most sought-after lecturer in local and international seminars, lectures and fora.
Dr. Gopez’s unparalleled accomplishments in his field earned him the respect of the Philippine Science High School to be a 1998 recipient of the "Gawad Lagablab" Outstanding Alumnus Award. He is the Outstanding Metallurgical of 1995, awarded by the Professional Regulation Commission and the Philippine Technological Council. In 2005, he received the Outstanding Alumnus Award from the UP Alumni Engineers and the UP College of Engineering.
